The Estate Agency Affairs Board
The EAAB was established by an Act of Parliament on 5 July 1976 after an extensive investigation into the necessity or otherwise of doing so. The Department of Trade and Industry had become convinced that the self-regulation of the industry was not to the benefit of consumers. It had become apparent that statutory regulation was required to maintain and promote the integrity of estate agency, and consequently the interests of consumers.
Although the EAAB has come a long way since its establishment, it is not content to be complacent and continuously seeks to improve its effectiveness and efficiency and, in so doing, to remain a worthy regulatory of the industry and protector of consumers.
